Envetec Wins Circular Economy Award for Helping Healthcare and Life Sciences Keep Materials in Use

BIRDHILL, Ireland, October 15, 2026. Envetec Sustainable Technologies Limited (Envetec) has won the Circular Economy Award at Ireland’s Climate Change Leadership Awards 2026, recognising its work recovering valuable plastics from eligible medical and laboratory waste.

Single-use products support safety and reliable performance across healthcare and life sciences. Many contain high-quality plastics that are difficult to recover once they enter biohazardous waste streams.

The company’s GENERATIONS technology simultaneously shreds and disinfects eligible waste on-site through a validated, non-thermal process. It produces treated polymer flake suitable for recycling, enabling facilities to establish recovery routes for selected plastics.

The broader opportunity for material recovery includes single-use products such as Petri dishes, blood collection tubes, syringes, trays, and packaging. Developing suitable recycling routes for these materials could provide manufacturers with additional sources of recycled feedstock, reduce reliance on virgin plastics, and keep valuable polymers out of incineration and landfill disposal.

Envetec works with recycling partners, including Enva in Ireland and the UK, to process suitable treated flake into plastic pellets for manufacturing. It also collaborates with manufacturers to evaluate recovered materials against the quality requirements for specific applications.

GENERATIONS Connect, Envetec’s software, provides customers with information on waste volumes, material and polymer types, and recorded downstream pathways. This helps organisations document their waste treatment and assess opportunities to improve recovery.
